At Tikkurila, we request all suppliers to disclose their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) / Sustainability Performance through the Ecovadis portal. EcoVadis is an international and independent evaluator that provides assessments of corporate social responsibility and provides a platform for companies to effectively monitor the responsibility of their suppliers. The scoring that is provided by the EcoVadis evaluation impacts our choice of suppliers.
Tikkurila introduced the EcoVadis CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) platform for evaluating existing and potential suppliers in 2020. We also received an assessment of our own responsibility in the summer of 2020. According to EcoVadis, Tikkurila is in the top 9% of companies within its industry category, which means that currently, Tikkurila scores higher than 91% of same category companies rated by EcoVadis.
Policies and principles
At Tikkurila, we monitor and assess suppliers on a regular basis through evaluation and auditing processes. We require suppliers and partners to operate in accordance with Tikkurila's Code of Conduct and fulfill the requirements on quality, safety, environmental and social responsibility: We either check that the supplier’s Code of Conduct is in line with ours, or we agree that they adopt our Code of Conduct.
Supplier Code of Conduct
Tikkurila is committed to the highest ethical standards and encourages a culture of sustainability amongst its suppliers, distributors and representatives. This Supplier Code of Conduct (“Code”) outlines the minimum expectations regarding ethical principles and business practices for all our suppliers. We expect our suppliers to conduct their activities in a manner that respects human rights as set out in The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labour Organisation ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
Tikkurila also conducts on-site audits of its suppliers each year. Our audits and inspections assess our suppliers’ order, delivery and production processes, quality control measures, as well as management of environmental, health & safety aspects and impacts.
